Alternatives to Google Translate
Google Translate is one of those services we take for granted. Whenever you need to understand a phrase in a language you don't speak, you probably open Google Translate and paste the text. But every translation you make passes through Google's servers and is potentially used to train their AI models.
Alternatives exist and work well. Some use translation engines completely independent of Google; others offer the option to translate directly on your device without sending anything to external servers. Translation quality has improved enormously in recent years, and for the most common languages the results are often comparable to Google's.
Something worth considering: if you work with confidential documents or sensitive text, translating them through a cloud service means sharing them with a third party. A translator that works offline, or one that genuinely respects your privacy, can make the difference between protecting and exposing important information.
