Alternatives to SwiftKey

Alternative to: GboardSwiftKeySamsung Keyboard

The keyboard is the app through which everything you type on your phone passes: messages, searches, passwords. It's worth knowing what it does with that data.

SwiftKey, owned by Microsoft, syncs your personal language model to the company's servers. In 2016, a bug in this system caused some users to see other people's email addresses and phone numbers appear in their prediction bar. Today it also integrates Copilot, Microsoft's AI assistant. Gboard and Samsung's keyboard both have network access and can therefore potentially share data with third parties or their own servers.

The alternatives below have no internet permission at all. This isn't a configurable option — it's a technical limitation by design. Which means that regardless of any privacy policy, these apps are physically incapable of transmitting anything off your device.
